Have fun AND STAY SAFE

Age regulations

  •  All children must be at least 7 AND weigh 50+lbs. to accompany parent/legal guardian in a kayak, canoe or raft 
  • Must be at least 11 to rent a boat with parent 
  • Must be 16 to paddle own boat without accompaniment of legal guardian, with signed parent/legal guardian waiver, on-site safety training and proof of age photo I.D.
  •  All boaters under the age of 18 must wear their PFD (life jacket) at all times while on the river  

Paddling Safety Tips & State Laws

  •  No Glass or Styrofoam coolers on the river 
  • We wish to be very clear that we at Tippecanoe will not tolerate any level of public drunkenness or disorderly conduct. Operating any boat under the influence of alcohol or drugs is prohibited (Section 1547.11 Ohio Revised Code) This river requires your SOBER attention.
  •  ALWAYS WEAR YOUR LIFE JACKET U.S. Coast Guard-approved lifejackets are required for every person (Section 1547.25 of the Ohio Revised Code)
  • Always be on the lookout for hazards in the river: Avoid low hanging branches, storm debris, and potential 'strainers' (areas of fallen timber that allow water to flow through but can snag a boat and its operator) 
  •  Do NOT stand in the boat or raft  
  •  Littering on a waterway is illegal and just not right (Section 1531.29 Ohio Revised Code) PACK IT IN:PACK IT OUT · Respect wildlife and their homes: Don't feed wildlife 
  •  Be considerate and helpful to others 
  •  Give fisherman a wide berth  

PET FRIENDLY!

  • We welcome dogs, if they are friendly and well socialized 
  • Please insure that they are kept on a leash at all times while at the livery and for stops on shore along the way. We recommend dog life jackets
  • Owners must be responsible for proper doggie waste disposal at the livery and any stops along the gravel bars and shore 
  • Be sure to keep a close eye on them as there are plenty of exciting noises, smells, and things that might catch their eyes  

What you may want to bring

  • Sunglasses 
  • Sunscreen & hat 
  • Plenty of water to stay hydrated
  • Water appropriate water shoes 
  • Dress appropriate for a day in the water
  • A change of dry clothes back in your car
  • Water proof bags (for important items)
  • Trash bags
